Nanoprecipitation as a simple and straightforward process to create complex polymeric colloidal morphologies

Polymeric nanoparticles are highly important functional nanomaterials for a large range of applications from therapeutics to energy. Advances in nanotechnology have enabled the engineering multifunctional polymeric with variety shapes and inner morphologies. Thanks its inherent simplicity, nanoprecipitation technique has progressively become popular approach construct precise control nanostructure. The present review highlights great capability this controlling fabrication various nanostructures interest. In particular, we show here how either block copolymers or mixtures homopolymers can afford myriad colloids displaying equilibrium (typically onion-like) out-of-equilibrium (stacked lamellae, porous cores) morphologies, depending whether system “freezes” while passing glass transition crystallization point starting materials. We also that core-shell oil/polymer mixtures, attainable by one-pot process. A final discussion proposes new directions enlarge scope possible achievements
